Dezzy has lost her inspiration, so what is the logical solution? Do drugs, of course, more specifically Bliss (2019). I was expecting it to take longer for them to get to it than twenty minutes. In that time, they set up an interesting story that could’ve gone in many different directions.
The path the creators of Bliss chose is quite unexpected. Then add the strangeness and dizzying camera work, and I was intrigued. At times, I wasn’t really sure what was happening besides a potential overdose and Dezzy’s story coming to an end. Good thing that didn’t happen, even though she definitely overdosed.
The gore in Bliss flows nicely with the story as Dezzy becomes something she didn’t expect from snorting this dark powder. The painting she’s working on evolves throughout the film, and she never remembers making the impressive brushstrokes while under the influence. The last thing I want to mention is the music, which is an awesome array of modern Goth, adding an amazing layer to the movie.
I’m not going to tell you more than that, you need to see Bliss. I give it 4 out of 5 Stars for its unexpected beauty.
