Monsters hiding in plain sight… Mark
I’d added Bloodline (2019) to my watch list late last year. Since I’m cheap, I waited until it was available on a movie channel from my TV provider. I can’t remember what inspired me to add this, besides Seann William Scott playing a serial killer.
It starts out yummy with a nurse being slashed in the shower at the hospital. Having this as the hook, kept me hopeful that the movie would keep me interested and entertained. The story is dark and twisty with an identical theme/plot as the book and TV series, Dexter. In my opinion, that’s not a bad thing. Dexter is one of my favorites.
There are two notable twists in Bloodline that I wasn’t expecting. Nope, I’m not going to tell you what they were. However, I will say that without them, the film wouldn’t have been as exciting. The flashbacks that Evan has, while he watches the birth of his son, are important to understand his motivations. The pivot in his life at a young age isn’t much different from Dexter either, minus the shipping container.
All in all, I enjoyed Bloodline. It had small amounts of gore that were well produced and not overboard. If you come across this one, I totally recommend it. I give it 4 out of 5 Stars.
