Another interesting film from the Chiller Films catalog is The Monkey’s Paw (2013). It’s a remake of the 1948 classic that I don’t think I’ve seen. I was actually searching the original through my entertainment provider. It had the wrong tag on it. The drama of it all, so I got this version instead.
The Monkey’s Paw is quirky, at times I really liked what I was seeing, mostly the gore, and other times I was like, is this over yet? I had some confusion from the opening scene to the flash-forward in time, then it was cleared up for me on who was who. I totally think he screwed the pooch on what he wished for at the end. There were other things that left me shaking my head, too. Like when he was told that he had three wishes and couldn’t pass it on until he’d used his, to me that means even if it wasn’t in his possession he could make a wish, but that wasn’t the case. Maybe, I’m off track.
I didn’t hate this movie, it had a good amount of gore, though I wish it would’ve had more. The pace was a little slow at times, but when it picked up it went with gusto.
I give The Monkey’s Paw 3 out of 5 Stars.
