Krampus (2015) is one of the best Krampus movies I’ve ever seen. I think I like it so much because the beginning reminds me of family gatherings growing up, and how much fun we had exchanging gifts and eating. This movie shows the best and worst of families, how they fight, but in the end stick together when times get tough.
Poor Max so desperately wants to believe in Santa, though the world around him, except his Grandmother, tells him that it’s all make believe. The fun begins rather quickly in this tale, and not just the family members squabbling. The frozen world is dark and creepy.
Another thing I really enjoyed about this movie is the puppets/creature effects. The monsters and things are delightful, filling me with Christmas Magic. I’m glad they didn’t go the CGI route, otherwise I don’t think it would’ve been as good.
Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. I give Krampus 4 out of 5 Stars. Merry Christmas!
