The bright lights dance to music of the Wurlitzer as the carousel gently glides through its cycles. The stoic animals dip and bob on polished poles. The riders smile and laugh in the marvel. No one sees me watching from the comfort of the trees. She entrances me. She appears from nowhere to tease me, to arouse me. It forces my concentration away from her and turns me towards our meal. I stalk way from her smile into the flashing lights of the midway.
“Are you going to run from me again?”
I stop, not knowing what else to do.
