“Twist it all you want,” Holly said, her voice gruffer than normal. “It’s frozen shut.”
Missy glanced back at her with a glare. What had the witch done now? It was always something with her. She stepped to the window and scraped a peephole in the ice sheet that covered the glass with her thumbnail. Outside the snow swirled in gusts of wind. The corrugated tin of the outbuilding took on a green patina in the cold.
“How could it be snowing?” Missy thought. “It’s July.”
“You’ve been asleep for six and a half months,” Holly replied, reading Missy’s mind.
