If you trespass upon them, they’ll trespass upon you. Shop Keeper

The Hallow (2015) is an interesting movie, and I kept thinking of the amazing book The Glade by Harmony Kent, which I absolutely loved (review for it here.) While there are similarities, it is not an adaptation as far as I know. I don’t know what others thought of this film, and really don’t care, because I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The scenes are tense. Colm, someone who lives in the area, isn’t really forth coming with his warnings and just randomly appears at Adam and Claire’s house and in the woods, etc. Of course, Adam and Claire think he’s the one stalking them because he doesn’t want them in the Hallow disturbing things.

The visuals and pacing are good. The black goo is gross, and I have the feeling it has a bad smell, but without smell-o-vision I’ll never know. The mutants, I wasn’t sure what they were exactly, but the costuming is amazing, so I didn’t really care, knowing that they were bad and mean and scary; maybe, faeries, it is Ireland after all?

I’m giving this one 4 out of 5 Stars.
