Over two hundred years have passed since the beast made itself known to the small mining town’s residents. Throughout the years, it toyed with them, possessing them, tormenting them, killing them, until they devised a plan to bind it in a circle in the woods. But their best efforts are undone when it tricks a boy into releasing it. Now it’s trapped in the house on Scarlet Lane, reliving its last kill until a new family moves in, and it begins to strengthen, making itself known to the ones living there though the ghosts of the previous occupants try to keep them safe.

When Jess buys the house on Scarlet Lane, she quickly learns more is inside the house than the walls. A strange clicking fills the house at night, terrifying her children, ghosts reveal themselves, and she discovers a dark entity frightened a young girl, causing her to fall down the stairs to her death.
After Mason is released from prison, he is lucky to find a job somewhere to live in his hometown. When he meets Jess, he discovers she bought his childhood home on Scarlet Lane, but Mason doesn’t know anything about the dark things that reside there. His employer sends him on a mission to find something in the house, though he leaves out the details of what it is.
Only a few know what happened in the old mining at the base of the mountain when the beast made itself known over two hundred years ago.
