As you’ve probably figured out, I love most things that were born in the 80s, so I’m coming at you today with The Lost Boys on the 6th day of 30 Days of Terror. I don’t know know how many times I’ve seen this movie, but I know it’s been more than 50. Besides millennials, I’m guessing most of you have seen this movie more than once too.
Sail into the night, lost in the shadows… I don’t know what I like more The Lost Boys (1987) film or soundtrack. Recently, I learned that there are two sequels, but I’ve decided that I’m not going to ruin the beauty of this film by watching them. I don’t understand why it took them until 2008 to do them, or why fucking Corey Feldman is in them.
Throughout the years, I’ve heard and read things about The Lost Boys that makes me laugh because I’m seriously confused why no one noticed these things when it was in the theaters in 1987. The biggest is homoeroticism. Really? You didn’t catch that the first time. Everything from Sam Emerson (Corey Haim) having the sexy Rob Lowe poster on the closet door (there was another poster of a man, but I can’t place who it is…is it Jason Patric?) to David Powers (Kiefer Sutherland) seducing Michael.
Beyond these lovely bits, I’ve always loved The Lost Boys. It’s dark and brooding, making me almost want to move to Santa Carla so that I can hang out with the boys. The comical aspects of the movie aren’t too cheeky with the tension taking the lead. The effects aren’t the worst to come out of the 80s.
I will always love The Lost Boys and give it 5 out of 5 Stars.
