Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) unveils who the Man in Black is in the previous movie and this one, and what happened to Michael and Jamie. I like the explanation of why Michael does what he does, it’s a really fucked up way, but it makes sense; the power of Thorn. But that’s not to say everything was resolved for me, they also added another sick question. Is Michael the father of Jamie’s baby? And where did the mark of Thorn come from? I don’t remember it in any of the other films.

I liked how they brought back Danny from the first two episodes, it added a nice tie in and closure. That is until the end, I’m not going to say it, but of course they had to leave it open. The gore hits a good level for me and is not overdone. The screams are good and the uncomfortable feelings of finding Michael outside in the shadows watching are always my favorite bits in this series. This is also the last movie with the original Dr. Sam Loomis, because he died in real life.

I give this one 3.5 out of 5 Stars.

OK, now is when we forget everything we know from 4, 5, and 6 as Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later (1998) is an alternate ending of sorts, twenty years after Halloween II or is it I? Well not quite everything should be erased from our minds, there are pieces that were kept; just not Jamie, because now Laurie has a son, though I’m not sure who the father is.

Laurie has changed her name to Keri Tate and is the headmistress at Hillcrest Academy in California, far away from Haddonfield, though the memories won’t leave her no matter what, and she sees Michael everywhere, though he’s not there, yet.

Now as I ponder it, maybe the only thing they erased from 4, 5, and 6 was Jamie, since Laurie doesn’t mention her when she tells Will the truth about who she is.

Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later is one of my favorite sequels in the franchise, I think because Jamie Lee Curtis is in it, and I give it 4.5 out of 5 Stars.

Now let’s talk about Halloween: Resurrection (2002), the last of the sequels before the Rob Zombie remakes. Time moves forward again with Laurie Strode in a mental facility since H20 after learning that she didn’t kill Michael but someone else.

I don’t understand the time gap, why did it take him so long to come for her? At least he’s finally able to kill her, and for me that’s the end of the movie, the rest isn’t any different from many of the horror films made early in the new millennia.

That’s all I have to say about this movie as I find it a waste, more so than Halloween III that I’ll be talking about next.

I should correct what I said previously about Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982), it’s not a waste, it just doesn’t have anything to do with Michael Myers. They tried to do something different, but it was a flop. I like the movie, it has an interesting plot. The commercials for Silver Shamrock Novelties are disturbing.

I think this movie would’ve done better had it not carried the title Halloween III and left it to Season of the Witch or something different, since there wasn’t witchcraft per se; I know they were trying to break away from Michael and do an anthology type movie series with Halloween. But in 1982, we already had some great Slashers like Jason, and we wanted another.

Like I said, I like this movie, it has a good story, interesting ideas and not horrible FX, and I give it 3.5 out of 5 Stars.
