Blood Fest (2018) is the second movie from the same year that is what I’m calling new slasher, the other was Hell Fest. The theme is like shooting fish in a barrel, a little too easy, but that’s OK it’s fun. Survival, as with any slasher, is important.
On top of its similarities to Scream (1996), there’s the injection of The Cabin in the Woods (2011). The entire movie is like a montage of horror films greatest hits, but that doesn’t make it bad. I was entertained throughout as I anticipated what was going to happen next. I even had a few sphincter puckers, which always makes it better for me.
I was quite satisfied as Blood Fest came to an end, well, what I thought at the moment was the ending, but turned into an interesting twist. The continuous homage paid to other horror films kept my attention, and I got some gore, too.
I don’t mind giving Blood Fest 3.5 out of 5 Stars, it kept my interest.
