I assumed with Alyson Hannigan in the cast that You Might Be The Killer (2018) was going to be a comedy/horror film or at least be campy with some good cheese, and I wasn’t disappointed. When I started watching, I was enamored with the way movie began, and then it got better.
Camp Clear Vista is the primary setting; yes, it’s similar to Camp Crystal Lake and that’s just part of the reason it’s clever. They pieced together everything that I love about slasher/stalker films and added to it, making it one of the best I’ve seen in a while. Even with things being obvious, I couldn’t help but be sucked into this world, and love what I was experiencing.
The legend of the land was interesting, and I was surprised that they didn’t throw in footage while Sam told the story to the camp counselors. I loved the gore effects and how each kill was unique. Even the urgency and tension between the characters was at a level I like, which surprised me as I expected the campiness to take more a stronger lead, but it dwindled as the film progressed.
I loved You Might Be The Killer, and I give it 4.5 out of 5 Stars.
